I have a few questions:

-will they initially offer this in the XL version as well? It doesn't look like it.

-why the low tow rating (6,000 lbs) if it is using the 6.0 liter engine?

I'm certainly not very well versed in hybrid technology, but I would think tow capacity would increase rather than decrease with both forms of power and the bigger motor.

XL: (Assuming you meant Suburban or Yukon XL) NO - answered on GM's website...
Tow rating: Answered in video - less engine cooling due to re-worked front end (smaller grille)...

why did they use the biggest engine? If they wanted fuel economy they should have gone with atleast the 5.3, or better yet the 4.8.

People who want fuel economy alone should be looking at other vehicles. People who want fuel economy with the capabilities of a traditional SUV can now look to the GM hybrid SUVs for a potential solution for their towing and hauling needs. Make sense?

Thanks, and that's exactly why I also drive a big honkin' 2007 Yukon XL Denali! ;)

On a side note, I took a bit of sick pleasure when I accidentally pushed a shopping cart into the side of a Prius the other day... :giggling: Didn't do any damage, but I thought I heard the little car whimper.

LOL LOL :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:, so if they put only a 5.3, they would go down to only 3500-4000 pounds of towing because of the different cooling, so they put the bigger engine in to have the best of both worlds, ok smart, GO GM. I still dont think i would be comfortable off roading in the hybrid, lower clearence and i sure they put the fuel economy tires on, and for that matter even driving through puddles.

Thank you , that is one of the main reasons I bought a big SUV fully knowing I would pay more in fuel costs, but you just can't put a price on safety. I mean it is only my most precious cargo I'm hauling around.

I currently own an 02 Yukon and am thinking of getting the 08 Tahoe/Yukon hybrid. It appears from the GMC or Chevy website that you cannot get cloth seats with the hybrids. Does anyone know that is a fact or can you get cloth seats? I prefer cloth since we travel with two cocker spaniels and I am afraid that leather might get torn. The cloth seats in our yukon are still like new.

Tahoe Hybrid expect to do 21 in city and 22 on hwy. I grab this information on the Chevrolet website. So if that's the official numbers forget it I'll stick with the regular models...
