Just picked up the yuke for my wife, traded in an 05 Tahoe, and am disappointed in the center console setup. Basically, it's just an arm rest. What are you guys using for storage? anybody swap for a denali console?

EDIT: After re-reading your post, is the standard Yukon console different than a Yukon Denali center console?

You are aware that it opens and there is about 2 cu ft of storage in there, yes?

console

I must be blind. I see no latch on this thing at all. the salesman even told me that was the way the new yukes were? I'll check again when the wife gets home. I've only been in it long enough to be driven home from the dealer and she's had it since.....

Does your console look anything like these? The first pic is my truck, and you can see the button/handle on the front of the console. You just push that in and pull it up, and the whole top opens up to reveal a large storage bin. Optionally, you can add the tray in the second pic (for like $35 from the dealer). Tahoe interior shot included to show how they're nearly identical...

Also, here's a link to the 2007 Yukon Owner's Manual... See pages 174-175 (no pictures, but decent info nonetheless).

Hope that helps!

I see you have captains chairs. I got the 60/40 split which is what the wife wanted and it has a different configuration all the way around. I think the only storage spot in the whole truck is the glove box.

Really?

A 60/40 split bench is available as the front seats? I had no idea! I have a 60/40 bench in the second row because I have 8 people in my family. Wow - 9 passengers! I assumed all these GMT900's had front buckets...

I didn't know the Yukons had the bench front option as well. I have a tahoe with the bench front. I thought it would be nice at first, but seeing how useless the legroom is on it now I'd gladly go back and get the bench front seats with a useable console.

ANYBODY WANT TO TRADE??? :yesnod:

You can buy them on ebay if you want to swap them out. Just search for (2007 tahoe console) and you should find some hits. Hope that helps.

yes but only on the sle and LS on the tahoe and yukon. or only with cloth seats.

but he is most likely talking about an sle yukon with cloth seats and a 9 passenger seating.

Yeah, after looking at the GMC site, it's the SLE 3SA base package that comes with a 40/20/40 split bench in the front. Looks like all other packages come with front buckets.

I've never seen the front bench -- either of you guys mind posting a pic or two when you can?

I'd be irritated as well with the lack of inside storage space -- that front center console is where my wife and I keep all our crap. Without it, we'd be jamming stuff in the glove box and in the "map pockets" on the doors... So, it's like that on the LS Tahoe and Suburbans too, eh?

Wow, and I figured I was only gonna learn one new thing today!

Yes it does kind of suck not having more storage space. The jumpseat is a direct fit for the console, the back folds down and has 2 cupholders and a small storage tray on top(back of the seat). I'll try to take some pics tonight and post them.

You can actually swap up the middle part and put a center console in there. You might have to take the seats out to install but seen it done. Have to do it to mine I hate not having any storage space.

I was taking measurements from the console from the 05 I traded in to see if I found one in a junk yard or ebay, I could swap it out but it appears to be a little off. The yukon we purchased is a base model but I can't see putting 35 to 40K into a car that you just drive to and from work. just my .02 of course and it does have plenty of features to fit our needs. We did not get the 3rd row seat either as it just gets in the way.

That would be great. what model are you getting the console from? It seems to me that the one from the earlier model tahoe would bolt in with a little adjustment.

There are a few options here. This is ONE of the things that WAS changed for 08. The 08 tahoes/yukons have a lid on the center console, AND the seat bottom opens up to reveal a locking compartment below. You could try to find an 08 bench seat, or possibly just replace the armrest part.
