I have a 07 yukon 4x4. I should have paid more attention to the front ground clearance before I ever bought this thing. The 06 and before had more. It scrapes on curbs, I pulled the whole front end loose while fishing when a small rock hooked under the dam when I was backing up. When I looked at it my friends and I could not believe how cheap the front end attachments are. Oh well, question is can I remove that black air dam for some more clearance? Some people say it is designed for air flow to help cool the engine?Any suggestion appreciated. Thank You:confused2:

I ripped mine off at the beach this summer, haven't replaced it, and haven't seen any temp issues.

I'm sure it is designed to flow air up and through the radiator, but you should get plenty of air except, maybe when stuck in traffic, or sitting in a drive-through. Just watch your temperature gauge, and you should be fine.

The front air dam would have no cooling benefits when the vehicle is at a stand still. That is what the fans are for.

The air dam does have a benefit when the vehicle is moving so as to reduce the amount of air that comes into the engine bay from under the bumper. The path that you want air to flow into the engine bay is through the grille.

Going to take the dam off and see what happens. Time to start looking at other suv's or go back to the old body style. These thing's are just not designed to do the job as they were in years past.

Like aaron72 said, the front lower valence is for aerodynamics. Helps reduce Cd. Owner's Manual says to remove whenever going off-road.

Thanks for all the good info guy's. Seem's ridiculous to tell people they can not off-road unless they take apart their veh. I'll take the dam off now and unload the veh when the time is right. It's a shame because the right is great and I have owned GMC for many years.

The air dam is for aerodynamics, if your concern is fuel economy, leave it on. If you want to go off road take it off. I really don't think they expected people to swap it on and off each time they wanted to go off road.

do a 2" body lift. Cheaper than trading it in. Im planning on that. Was gunna do a full blown lift. Then I got the suburban. But I also scrape everything. I had an 06 as well and can completly agree with you, that had MUCH MORE space , Funny thing is i feel higher in the 07. :au:
