Hi,

I just installed a cold air intake on my 07 tahoe. It is an injen cold air intake system (wrinkle black) and it took me between 45 minutes to an hour to install it. I haven't got a chance to drive it around to see if there is any difference in gas mileage. I used to get around 16mpg in town an19.5 mpg on highway with the original air intake. I have put 3700 miles on my tahoe so far.

I'm also posting some before and after pictures as an attachment.

Please post your comments.

Thank you.

It looks great. Where did you get your air intake system?

I bought it from autoanything.com. And also I didn't see much of a gas mileage increase yet, I still get the same around 16 mpg in town. Haven't driven out on the highway yet but I feel the throttle response has increased a little bit.

:Chevy:

Thanks.

FYI

I realize this is a Tahoe Forum but I thought you might want to see a GM Performance CAI. It's installed on my 03' Silverado 5.3L. I didn't have any fuel milage increase but I think the performance was a little better. It's quiet, fits perfectly and looks super under the hood. Hell the chrome was good for 5 more HP. :smilielol:Disregard the K&N sticker in the picture I peeled it off and junked the filter when I got the GM CAI.

That's ugly...the factory intake that is. The new one looks great! Much better:thumbsup: . Let us know how performance/mileage is when you get a chance.

I put the GM CAI and Perf. exhaust on and saw no increase in mpg. But the sound was good for 5 hp and chrome another 5. When you nail it at 50 mph, it definitely gets with the program now. :clapping:

Yeah, I've got the GM Performance Duel Exhaust as well and the sound is definitely worth another 5 HP. Thanks for reminding me 73shark. Chevy small blocks, there's nothing that sounds better when you nail it. "GO COWBOYS" !!!

which intake is better the gm intake or the injen intake?? i heard it's better to have the plactic tubing instead of the chrome tubing due to the heat ?

The one on mine truck is an injen brand and I didn't buy the one with the chrome intake pipe.

I'm looking at adding a cold air kit to my Tahoe down the road but I was wondering if anyone had check to see what the HP gain is and do you think it is worth the money?

retho78,

Noticed any sound difference?

I'm currently leaning towards the XDI by TrueFlow

I have the Volant, I have had it for about 9 months now and no issues. I did see a performance gain and a slight mileage gain. I liked the lookes and the fact it was a closed in system.

This is an interesting thread, a lot of good information. I, too, am interested to see what true milage and performance gains are realized before spending the (about) $300. Fourwheeler magazine was going to do a comparison on intake systems, if they do I'll post it for folks.

please do post it....

I'm still torn on which intake (but still leaning on the Trueflow) and which exhaust. And the biggest question... which FIRST?

I just installed the Volant last night in my 07. I do notice a difference in the lower rpm range. You can barely hear the increased air induction, but it's still being drowned out by my Magnaflow catback during hard acceleration. :shhh:

Hopefully if I can keep my lead foot off, it should show a slight mpg increase.

One thing I like about the XDI is the straighter air flow path instead of up and over like the Volant (which they probably will say "swirls" the air into the manifold better). I decided to stick with the closed box anyway. I am very happy with the Volant purchase, especially with the new PowerCore filter, which is a pretty smart design.
