New to the forum. Had this Yukon about a month and a half now- bought with 35K miles on the clock and was GM Certified. Anyway, the problem: After about three miles into a trip to a local big box store the she died when I came to a stop at a busy intersection. No warning or nothing - just stall. All accessories were working - radio, HVAC blowers, etc., but when I turned the key to start nothing happened. Managed to get some help to push it off the road - pushed rather easily, btw :D. Had my wife bring volt meter and jumper cables as I figured battery died or alternator failure, but never noticed any warning lights other than the voltmeter gauge showing about two needle width past 14V on the instrument cluster. Which I have seen before and have also seen it the same distance under 14V occasionally even at highway speeds.

Measured the battery at 10.4V. I'm thinking the POS GM battery is trash (three years on what looks like a six year battery) so I go to Sears and pick up a new Die Hard Gold and bring it back. When I pulled the old battery out it was dripping wet on the positive side of the short-length side. I am assuming it was battery acid as it did not feel like regular water on the hands after handling the battery. Over voltage on the charging system comes to mind... Put in the new battery and go to crank and still nothing. Voltage is 12.5V at the battery with a 3A current draw which slowly drops down after battery connection is made (measured with ammeter) - this is with all doors and known loads off. All accessories work and no blown fuses that I can see. Turn to start and I hear a relay click under the center console in the front seat, all accessories go out, but no crank.

I had it towed to the dealer, but they were closed and it will not be looked at till Monday. Any ideas? This is the second time I have had this vehicle at the dealer. The first time was for the HVAC blowing cold on the passenger side and hot on the driver. Not looking promising for a fairly young vehicle that I have had less than a couple months :mad2:

TIA

Update: Dealer reported PCMB fuse blown from shorted fuel pump. Replaced fuel pump and I have it back. Said they checked the charging system and was fine. Never did get a reason for the dead battery. :unknw:

Well, a short circuit could drain the battery, especially if the car is just sitting and the battery isn't getting charged.

Its probably a good thing you replaced the battery anyway. The OEM batteries are terrible and don't last.
