05 Tahoe fuel filter

Does anyone know where the fuel filter is on a 05 Tahoe? I was told that it was by the frame rail above the drivers door. I followed the lines from the tank to the engine compartment, and no filter. Someone told me that it is in the tank. If that is true, how do you change it, to do regular maintenance? HELP!!!

DO you have a flex fuel truck?

If so, its on the frame rail, drivers side, near the front. Its a PITA to change, needs some special tool. I just had the stealer do it for $65...

If its not flex fuel, i think the filter is in the gas tank

I do not have a flex fuel engine. It's a 5.3 liter V8. If it is in the fuel tank, what is the proceedure to change it? How often does GM recommend them to be changed? YIKES!!!

its supposed to be life time if you have the 5.3 v8

yeeeup ..exactly so there shouldnt be anything to worry about

05 and up has no in line fuel filter.....its inside the tank with the pump. only needs changing when the pump goes!

Filter is in the tank, not worth changing unless necessary. Kinda weak on gm's part imo.
