Hi all, new to the forum, but have been reading up and running searches here on what to do.

Question is:

04 Denali, has the cd/tape/6cd indash setup. Owner who I just bought it from (2 days ago :) ) ordered it with factory nav, but it was mid-year and the navs were backordered so they just put their "nicest" stereo in it...

So what I'm wondering is in putting DVD player, or players in. I'd like the system to work with the factory stereo if possible, and not via RF. It's a loaded Denali, so has everything except for DVD and the nav. Is it simple enough to get the factory DVD player for the headliner, and replace the dome lights? I also have the sunroof. On top of all that, could a person get 2 of the factory Overhead dvd's, and put one on each rear row?

Really torn on what the best way to go is, not necessarily worried about the dollars, more concerned with how it works.

Thanks all for your input, I am taking our loaded 03 Avalanche (with DVD) so now the wife and kids need something to watch in the family rig :)

I'd look into an aftermarket stereo, kenwood's new dnx8120 is a 7" dual zone in dash dvd player with garmin navi and all the extras. You can buy all the monitors you want and have the kenwood run the rears while you can watch a different movie on the head unit. High voltage preouts will make any additional speakers sound great (subwoofer or additional amplifier for aftermarket speakers). I'm planning on installing the kenwood in my 02 denali as soon as I cough up the $1400 I owe to uncle sam

I think the Kenwood is cool, no question. I sold Excelon for years at a Car stereo shop I managed.

but I'm guessing that the onstar and interfaces like steering wheel controls are all gone with something like this?

Nope you can integrate all the stock components to function as they would with the factory head unit.

K, does anyone make an aftermarket that works voice activated for not just your bluetooth phone, but for controlling your ipod/changer?

And what would everyone suggest then for dvd players? Headrests?
I noticed the curve on the back roof for the 3rd row, might be hard to put a overhead dvd back there.
