My Tahoe wont heat up past 175 degrees on cooler days (40 or below). On warmer days it will reach operating temps of 210 but takes a while to get there. I have changed out the thermostat twice with OEM 186 degree stats with gaskets and housing,fan clutch and temp sensor on block. I've checked...
During a normal warm-up, my Temp Gauge jumps right up to pegged when it passes an indicated 168 degrees. She just shoots off the chart way above 260 and stays there. Funny thing is... it doesn't seem hot. Seen it hot before too... my wife drives this one.

I just replaced the therostat in my 1995 Tahoe 5.7l. Three wires were grounded on the nut that goes on one of the thermostat bolts. I had to replace these.
I double-checked the new electrical eyelets that I repaired and they seem fine, even jumped them directly to the battery neg and still...
