speakers cut out no sound

I just installed a new CD player in my 96 Tahoe and the dimmer switch is cutting out the speakers. When the dimmer switch is less than approximately 50 percent the speakers work, once you go above 50 percent the speakers shut off, although the CD player remains on. Any clues on what I did wrong...

When I hit a bump in the road my speakers cut out. Its seems to push out sound when it wants to. The rest of the radio seems work and is lit. I pulled the radio and checked the connections and all look sound. I have the delco radio in my 99 yukon. Any suggestions?? Thanks for the help.
