4wd

I have an 04 Tahoe, LT 5.3, Vin Z with the 4 button Slector on the dash. My 4WD is not engaging in any mode. I bought the vehicle used and noticed at night there was no dash illumination on the selectors so thinking that I replaced that unit, however, I still cannot get the 4wd to engage...

Anyone here can help me? I want to convert my 2006 4wd capable Tahoe to a 2wd. ....preferably before the transfer case quits and the truck won't move.

2005 Tahoe will only go in auto 4wd and 4 hi. Will not spin in 4 lo but light shows active. When in 4 hi the tires will only spin on jack stands. They will not even spin in slick mud.Please Help truck has 131000 miles.

Living in the south, I rarely use 4WD but needed it a few weeks ago driving on the beach. (Sounds like a few of us in this forum like Carova Beach) Nonetheless, I went to turn it from 4WD to 2WD and the twist knob was really, really warm. Is that normal or should I have the dealer check it out?
