Ya, sounds like a rear seal which is typicaly easy to replace. Just drop the drive shaft...make sure you don't pop off one of those U-joint caps on the end near the diff. Then I'm not sure about the gear box since I haven't worked on a Chevy in years. Typicaly you can pull the rear tail shaft...
I'm not a fan of the new electronic 4WD switch system. We used to have a 96 LT 4X4 Tahoe that still used the good ole handle. That was a good Tahoe until some lady ran a red light:mad: So we ended up buying a new 04' Z71 Tahoe. The first year we had it some 4WD switch/sensor messed up making it...
Dayum....6 times:crazy::ack:
You drive around on empty all the time or what:eek2:
Now how often does your truck break down at home during your off days? Our fuel pump on my wife's Tahoe just went belly up at our hotel 700 miles away from home. So chances are you got more than 30 mins tied...
Ditto,
Do you have a ton of play in the steering wheel? I mean can you turn it "X" amount of degrees either way without actually turning the vehicle? This is generaly a sign of a bad pitman arm or idler arm which is easy to replace. Personaly I would consider rebuilding the whole front end if...
Oh ya, both M1 or RP would make a great choice in my opinion. I'm not sure if RP makes a filter but I would use one like K&N or M1 if they don't. They filter a higher Micron (smaller partical) than a typical filter and better suited for syn-oils.
Edited: I just now noticed this was in the 07'...
These threads seema little inconclusing in my opinion. If you're looking for more a more educated guess on a certain oil or fuel, do your search on Bobtheoilguy.com sight. When you see people bad mouthing an oil on that forum, you can bet there is something to it. They routinely send off oil...
Ditto,
You may get a life time warrante but you still have to bust knuckles droping the tank etc. So I would invest in a quality part and use that time droping a tank on something else.
Yes sir, I told the shop to replace the fuel filter either way. I figured it was probaly straining the hell out of the fuel pump. Anyhow, I rarely let people work on my cars but we're on the road. It's also still under warrante, so it shouldn't brank the bank.
Well it wasn't the fuel filter although that was close...it was the fuel pump. I thought the pump sounded strange but I figured this was due to a pluged filter.
Well hell, now the damn thing want start at all :ack:
I had it towed to a local shop and told them to change the fuel filter. So hopefully this will solve my issue. I would do it my self but I'm out of town on vaction. The filter is an external and inside the frame rail but I really don't...
Thanks,
Thats a good place to start...I can't recall ever changing the external filter. Do you know when either one should be replaced? I can't seem to locate that in the owners manual :confused2:
Hello people,
The names Ray and I found your site while searching the net for help on my wife's Tahoe. I was wondering if anyone could help?
I have a 2004 Z71 Tahoe we bought new back in August of '04. It's completely stock outside of a new set of tires and a new cluster gauge...oil...
