I thought the holes go all the way through? Is the 08 tahoe different than the Yukon?

i removed my roof rack because i like the clean look. what is everyone doing with the holes after removing these? i put silicone back in the hole and around the screw and reinstalled them to keep water out and the painted the screw heads with matching white touch up. they still stand out too...
