Thanks to all for the replies. I took it to a mechanic for a smog check today. He helped me narrow it down. Seems that it is the idler arm. There is play in both joints, and the squeaking is coming from them.
I've done a couple of these myself. Once on a '78 firebird, and once on a '80...
My 2001 Tahoe's front end has this squeaking that seems to be getting louder as time goes on. It is most noticable when turning right at low speeds. I believe they greased all the zerks they could find and it did not go away.
Idler arm? Pitman arm? Control arm bushings?
Any ideas?
