I prefer the liftgate. We've had 3 suburbans, all with the barn doors, and i've always hated them. I hate that there is no wiper, its hard to see, and it really looks retarded having the handle offset on the back. Yea, doing that will create a LOT of heat in the trans - which is an automatic transmission #1 worst enemy. If your not going to be going fast, there is no reason to not be in Low.I always use Low in a situation like that. Trust me, your transmission will thank you if you start using low!

Be careful using 4Hi in deep stuff...that could be how you burned up your transmission...
