1999 Suburban LT , 5.7L, Question on the front center console triad of cigarette style power ports. Passenger side auxiliary power port not working.
So on this vehicle, there are 3 power ports. The center port is the cigarette lighter and then there are 2 aux ports slightly lower and to...
Just put a fully rebuilt 5.7 engine back in and adjusted the CAM Retard Offset to +1 degree using Torque app.
No other codes except P0300.
Have limited data access to ECU at moment, but some data includes, at idle and warm engine:
Intake Manifold Pressure at 36 kPa (10.6 in Hg)
MAF at 7.22g/s...
Could someone please post a wiring diagram for the 1999 Suburban K1500 5.7L V8
Intermittent window function on driver side front window is the only symptom. It is not the switch. Would like to see what else is in the circuit. Thanks
Noticed recently that driver side power window may or not be working at any given time. Seems to go from working to not (or vice versa) between trips/uses. Seems stable for a given trip. It is only the driver side front window. All other windows work fine as well as the door locks. From...
just as a followup, the oil approach didnt work. I tried 20,000 cst based off of what someone had posted in some forum someplace and it was way to viscous. Maybe it would work with the correct fluid, but ended up just buying a new motor.
Speedometer and Odometer are Intermittent. When it works, it shows correct values, but otherwise goes to zero. Been happening for about a month now, getting worse. Seems to work about 50-70% of the time, no rhyme or reason when it goes in or out. It can be working, I stop and go into...
actually I misspoke. The odometer also goes in/out at same time as speedometer. When the speedometer works, it is indicating correct. It is not erratic. So it simply either dies and the reading goes to 0, or it works correctly.
Also, if its the VSS, does someone have a part #...
1999 K1500 Suburban 5.7
I have intermittent speedometer. It is the only know annoyance t this time. Everything else seems to work fine. Yes, I have monkeyed with the dash a few months back - replaced the fuel gauge.
I also put on an ELM327 and checked the speed sensor when the...
Ok, well...the Bars HG-1 is still holding just fine, Im at 163k miles now. Ive done multiple long distance trips without any issues whatsoever up to 115F ambient. Just came back from a 2000+ mile trip from vegas to black hawk, Co....no issues whatsoever. Fluid levels holding, MPG holding.
I found a good deal for the front suspension parts, but wanted to confirm with the supplier that it was compatible. The part supplier asked if my vehicle had "Press-In ball joints and independent front suspension". I'm not much of a car guy and have never done suspension work before. Can...
I have a 1999 K1500 Suburban with the 5.7L and on the driver side, there seems to be ample space for a second battery over the windshield washer fluid reservoir. (I assume maybe with a different engine option, this might actually have come populated with a second battery, but that's just an...
Followup ..probably final for this issue.
MPG after a tank or two of fuel is now right at 13mpg in the city (easy driving).
Vibration still there, but I dont seem to be losing much coolant now.
I do notice the thermostat seems to open up initially a bit later than normally. Dash temp...
So here is the latest on this issue:
a) ran dry compression test: Driver Side: 155, 172, 130, 162 - Pass Side: 180, 155, 180, 185. so I would say there is one cylinder (130) with a definitely issue. Tried wet on this cylinder also and it improved only to 135.
b) did end up changing cap...
I have another thread where Im debugging a rough idle and am now suspecting that I have an internal coolant leak making its way down the tail pipe. Basically, my chemical radiator test showed no gas, but I suspect I have a slow pressure drop from the radiator pressure test and am losing fluid...
Bit more info. Did a oil smoke test on material captured from the dipstick using a pump, shortly after running hot.
There were small bubbles evolved, but nothing violent. I suspect the small bubbles are simply trapped gas inside the oil from all the turbulence of running the engine...
Gearing up to fix my gas gauge, currently going through withdrawals and gots the shakes..
Does anyone know the part # for the stepper motor?
I see on ebay you can get these pretty cheap, but so far, I havent seen a specific listing covering 1999 models and dont want to order the wrong...
Bit more info: Engine warmed up, cap off radiator, 87 C on the coolant temp, heater on high and blowing hot, I think it was 157 F (I may have spaced and it might have been 147 F, but I tend to think 157 F) off the middle console vent. Absolutely no oil vapor on the inside of the window...
Heres an update: So I check fluid levels and it seems Im losing coolant..quite alot actually, but I see no external leaks and the previous pressure test was good. I topped off the fluids again and going to monitor it to confirm. For the hell of it, I baselined the vibration magnitudes...
