I just put a cat on my kids '92 Lumina for 150 bucks, new one at that. V-6.....
Start calling some shops.
My '00 has dual cats and may change them this summer, 135,000+ on the clock.
Here is a write up by a member of GM-Trucks.
haven't done it yet, my recirc door is jammed up and need to get a new one installed.
Good luck and let me us know any part numbers you come across, sounds like I need to do the same thing
I took my fog lights off as one was losing the lens and I figure, get a similar sized driving light and mount it to the mount for the old light, may take some engineering to do so, especially to make it water proof. I'm sure it can be done.
I would imagine the lock mechanism has gotten loose and slid down, or the gizmo on the hood is out of whack (not ever looked at one really, not sure if it adjusts.....)
You can either wait until your change oil light comes on, change at 3,000 or 5,000, I run Mobil 1 and change every 5,000 miles as it's easy to remember (125,000-130,000 etc).
I would change at 3,000 using conventional oil.
I used Dex Cool and distilled water, filled as described and added till full, no problems with it. Changed at 100,000 miles +- and have 130,000 on the clock, no problems :D
I have 265/75/16 on my Yukon, they hit the plastic on a full turn lock to lock but other than that, I Love them! I think I run about 3mph fast or so. The rubbing is very small, and only when I lock one side or the other, not enough to worry about. I currently run Open Country A/T from Les Schwab
check those rubber stoppers, they may have come up enough to prevent the hood from closing or check the mechanism that locks it, it may have come loose and went out of adjustment.
I used restore on an older engine, no difference.
I don't really believe in a miracle in a can with exception to seafoam, use it once a year or so.
I have 130,000+ on our Yukon and it runs great, change plugs, wires, seafoam, chevron tech....stuff once in a while and I change my tranny...
Broken wire in steering column, I believe it's orange, gets pinched and eventually breaks. pretty easy to fix, sorry no pics, let me do some research.....
Fullsizechevy.com has a write up or two on it.
EDIT: here it is from FullsizeChevy.com second post shows a picture of it, the post...
I can't remember what I did, I think I put a gallon of Dex with distilled water and topped off with dex in the tank. I think a touch more than 2 gallons of water. I read in a manual I THINK to use distilled water with the dex and I don't have a leak/bad water pump and temp is fine with...
I've never done a full drain, some of the older Fords had a drain plug on the converter but with the GM trannies, you may have to go to a tranny shop to flush it out, don't do a backward flush, read/heard too many problems when that happens. Hopefully someone else chimes in on how to dump the...
A full drain? I've gotten about 6-8 qts on just a pan and filter pull. Do it every year. I put 5qts in and warm it up and go from there, easier to add then to take out :D
