I have manually shifted through the gears and there is nothing there when you shift into O/D

I just bought a 99 Tahoe 2wd today. It shifts great going thru the gears but it doesn't go into O/D. Is there a sensor that can cause this or do I need to rebuild the tranny. Has anyone on here had the same problem and if so what was the needed repair? Thanks for the help.

I have always loved Tahoe's and Yukon's I previously had a 96 2wd Yukon and just bought a 2wd 99 Tahoe today that use to be a police vehicle.
