I got the SLP and I couldn't be happier.
It's a clean install that looks near factory. There is a hole in the bottom of the box, which is the same setup people do when they do the factory air box mod.
I should be up in a week or two I got inline on feb 3rd. I even offered to just buy a scan cable but he had none in stock and to be cost effective for shipping it would be additional $55 unless two other people wanted them(hint hint people buy some:D )
Pretty sure I'm going to go with the 87...
So my question is, is there a large difference between 93 and 87 tune?
I personally would do 93 if it was my vehicle, but it's my fiancee's 2nd car(she is the primary driver) and unless for a fact the gas mileage will increase at least a full MPG, i doubt she would be happy paying the extra...
Anyone here done it on their 5.3?
Looking to do it on my 03 Tahoe. Seems to be anywhere from a 15-20rwhp upgrade and about the same on tq on these 5.3's
If you just wanted a tranny temp gauge, you can install an Escalade cluster and have it reset for you vin.
You can also send your cluster off to some guy on ebay and he will convert it to Escalade specs for $250
Either way that is a pretty neat device.
Has anyone installed these on their 5.3L tahoe?
Looking to install these and some high flow cats(leaving the factory cat back) on my 03 tahoe. Wondering if anyone had any good results?
His wife hates anything aftermarket on any vehicle. She thinks if it didn't come with it from the factory, it shouldn't be on a vehicle...
He was tired of her b*tching and had to unload this stuff. lol
Picked it up used from a buddy for $150.. Traded him my stock headlights also +50 for the sylvania setup.
I think new the headlights are $440 +shipping and the air damn by itself is 230-260 + whatever the lights are.
Walbro will NOT warranty or guarantee non pump damage when using E-85.
E-85 takes minimum 30% more fuel. So either the fuel pump was big enough from the start, or they had to increase it. I do know the flex fuel engines have bigger injectors then non flex fuel engines.
Unless the engine...
Not sure if the hook ups are the same.
Do these year models have returnless fuel systems? Is the voltage always the same or does the computer vary the voltage for fuel output?
Yes,
For one I'm sure it's a bigger pump, two the seals on it are probably a little bit different to run e-85 and gas.
That's just a guess, but I'm sure the correct answer.
Auto's can be DIY if you have a real good step by step manual on re-building them. The parts are cheap, it's the labor you pay big bucks for.
Make sure and take it to someone who knows what they are doing on these 4l60E's. It is possible to make them last. See if you can find a local hot rod...
Wait you can pull that off? Hell i would have got warranty then.
I didn't bother, parts are cheap, it's just labor where warranty comes into play. If you can do all your own work, warranty isn't worth it imo.
