    What have some of you guys done for better mileage?

    My 97 Tahoe with 3.73 gears does around 13-14 in the city. This is totally stock but with a full tune up and new fuel pump and filter.

    I would take a wild guess and think it would be the bearings in the water pump going out? Maybe something else. Hard to tell unless you are there looking at it.

    fuel pump noise?

    How many miles on the truck? I would say that you probably need to or will have to replace the pump pretty soon. Mine was making a noise when at idle when I first got the truck. It sounded like an exhaust rattle or something like that. Then the pump took a dump the next week. About 100k...
