4x4 acting weird, excessive engine idle

um... wow... nevermind.... Checked last night.... um... what can I say? Um.... I'm a moron. lol. This past summer, when I used the 4x4, I was going down very steep, slick, muddy grades. I would always put it in 4 low and drop it into 1st gear. I guess I got in a habit of it...

4x4 acting weird, excessive engine idle

Ok, so this morning, I got on the road, and it was icy. I switched to 4H (pushed the lever forward until it engauged), it seemed like I was either spinning more than I was with 2H or the transmission wasn't shifting. I could hear the RPMs (and see it on the gauge) go high, but I wasn't moving...

    99 Tahoe Brake lights problem

Sounds like the brake light switch. You can try replacing that, but on my 1999, it was a pain in the ass to get to. I didn't even replace mine, I just had to hook up the remote start brake kill switch. Hardwarz

    Need help won't start

Ok, back to basics. Spark, Fuel, Air.... Check each one. Check each plug for spark. Use a pressure gauge and check for pressure at the fuel rail. Remove the airfilter, put your hand over the intake, feel a vacuum? If all that's right, your distributor might be out of alignment...

    Blower Speeds Problem

I thought mine was the switch too, problem is that if the root cause is the fan, you'll keep burning out switches and probably have a fire on your hands. On a side note, should we put in 10 or 15 amp inline fuse on these to protect it from it's self? Hardwarz

    99' tahoe factory speaker size?

I've always been a fan of making a plate speaker for the 4x10 opening. Then putting a 4" in the plate. (Or 3 1/2" speaker if you buy the plate)...

    Rear Defrost Problem

On the driver's side rear door, there are 2 electrical prongs. Both are for the rear window defroster. On the passenger's side, there are 4 electrical prongs and one plunger switch. 2 electrical prongs are for the defroster. 2 are for the power door lock. The plunger switch is to turn on...

How to replace a tail light backplane. - WARNING - Lots of Pics.

WARNING: The pics are high res pics and may take a minute or two to load up. On my 99 Tahoe (4 door, 4x4) I was having intermittent problems with my blinker. I figured that the problem was the bulb. The rear wasn't blinking. I decided to replace it. The tools you'll need are: 1/4" nut...

    Basic wiring

I figured that this might help someone out there. So, with every vehicle I end up purchasing, I end up putting in extra equipment. Alarms, lights, radio equipment, etc. All this extra wiring ends up with me running extra wires. Over the last few vehicles, I've finally come up with this...

    Blower Speeds Problem

I had the same exact problem. It look like the main problem might be that the blower it's self might be the culprit. I replaced the resistor pack that's behind the switch. That didn't fix it. Apparently, when the fan starts going bad, it causes the fan to start drawing more current. When...
