Ok,

I have a 2008 Tahoe Hybrid.

I know that I can hold down the left button on the mirror for 10 seconds and the auto-dimming option will turn off.

But, once I restart the car, I have to do it again.

Annoying.

I find the mirrors far too dark with it on and almost got into a wreck the other night because of it.

Anyone know if there is a way to permanenty turn off auto-dim?

If I cannot do it, can the dealer?

The only out of the box method is as you've stated. Hold the on/off button for 6 seconds on the rear view mirror manually each time.

This will disable the auto dim in the rear-view and driver's side mirror.

The dealer cant reprogram that. It can likely be done via a wiring mod but I've not seen anyone post/request info on this before.

Also just checked and there is no fuse/relay that directly controls this function...

I hate it too. If you figure out a way to turn it off permanently, please let me know.
