20" chrome wheels
I am thinking of purchasing a black 2008 Tahoe LTZ, but it doesn't have the chrome 20" wheels/chrome package. The dealer is asking a ridiculous 3k to put on 20" wheels.
Anyone know how much the 20" chrome OEM wheels are worth and the best place to get them? And then what do I do with my standard wheels?
I would consider getting non-oem wheels but I am concerned that if anything is wrong with the vehicle, they will claim the warranty is voided.
Thanks!

That is ridiculous, considering the LTZ COMES WITH POLISHED 20s STANDARD!!! Is it new? They probably put your wheels on someones LT to sweeten the deal or make more $$$, leaving the next buyer (you) to eat the cost. I'd make them put some on or drop the price 3K, but they will try to say they already reduced it for you because of this. Yeah, maybe 25%. That's $750 they maybe took off so they could drop it another $2250 to make it right or put the wheels back where they belong. AFTER you make them pay for the missing wheels, it is not going to be a problem using aftermarket wheels as long as they are reasonably not too big, wide, heavy, or the offset or backspace is way off from spec. But don't let them con you, look at the sticker and I bet you'll see 20' Polished Aluminum Wheels Standard. If it's used then kinda a different story, but you still need to reduce the price to make up for the missing equipment, which they probably already profited from once. Don't let them play you!

I agree. That's a bunch of crap. For $3k, the dealer should be putting on the optional 22's. Ebay is a good source. Craigslist is also a good source.

Plus, craigslist is a good place to sell you stock wheels. A lot of people buy stock wheels to put back on leased vehicles that they have to turn in. And a lot of times you can buy take off stock wheels and tires cheaper than new a new set of tires from someone that bought new 22/24" wheels.

If you were to order all the things needed from the dealer it would cost you $3716.72 plus mounting, balancing and your local state tax.
Buying the same on-line would cost you $2,751.02 plus mounting, balancing and shipping and handling.
If you really want the OEM look then just go to the dealer and fork over the 3K because of the looks of it you will be saving money and if anything were to go wrong with the set up the dealer would eat it, not you.

That dealer is trying to rip you off. As Black Dog said, the LTZ comes standard with 20" chrome wheels. Look here... http://www.chevrolet.com/tahoe/features/

Chrome 20" Wheels
Thanks for your replies, guys.
Pardon if I wasn't clear. To clarify, the vehicle has 20" polished aluminum wheels. I asked the dealer to sub out those wheels for chrome wheels and he wants 3k+ extra.
Yeah, the dealer probably got the $3K number for the whole chrome package, when all I really want is the chrome wheels, which shouldn't be anywhere near that much.
The vehicle is new and the sticker says " 20 inch POLISHED ALUMINUM WHEELS " and they don't looked like chrome, nor do they look that polished, lol.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised with this dealer as the dealer gave me his best deal in writing, which was supposed to included 20" chrome wheels and when I went down to pick up the car, the car didn't have chrome wheels and he also changed the price of the deal by a couple of thousand and called it an error. It was more like bait and switch. I have his original offer in writing and I wish I could somehow hold him to it, but you know how that goes. Any suggestions?
I would go to another dealer in a heartbeat, but I can't find a black/black or steel gray/black Tahoe, 4WD, LTZ, loaded, in the southeast.

He is not asking about the 20" polished rims that come standard on the LTZ model. He is asking about the 20" chrome wheels that are a $3000 option on all models.

IMHO, $3K is a lot just to get chrome wheels. 07SuburbanLTZ is probably right about that being a decent price from a dealer. But I, personally wouldn't fork out $3k just for chrome upgrade in the same wheel size from a dealership. You could easily find some with a little leg work online. There are plenty of people that buy them and then swap 'em out for 22's or 24's. Of course that's easy for me to say. I'm out here in SoCal where it seems like even honda civics have 22's.

I'll tell you what- I have the optional chrome 20" wheels on mine. If you buy yours and want to swap for free, I'll do it. PM me.
