Thanks to @JungleRoosters photos which were key in find a "not hooked up" vacuum hose while attempting to pass smog. Hose found (from right bank to PCV on left bank), smog passed, truck back on road. Hey 'hoe, let's go!!

Quick follow-up ... the Tahoe DID pass smog (after one retest due to a vacuum line that I did not hook up). It is now back on the road after a 2 year absence and seems to be running well (and not leaking) (is there an emoji for "knock on wood"?).

I am rather hoping it is close enough to pass California smog test.

Hello all. I am killing some time by going the RPO codes in the glove box of the 1996 Tahoe and have come across R8T ("CONTROL SALES ITEM NO. 69"). What might this be? What are control sales items? Cheers!

I attached a scanner after the engine was warm. Live Data shows 189F with the gauge needle at 1 small line past the bold line (between 100 and 210). I imagine gauges can vary. IMHO it is irritating having a non linear gauge without additional annotation. Cheers!

Here is what I see ... the nut did not go directly into the intake through the poppet holes. I wish this question were last week when I had my plenum off. To substitute, let me ask ... when you vacuumed did you have all injector poppets in and the breather tubes and other plenum holes closed...

May I ask ... did the nut drop into the hole for the spider leg or into one of the breathers? Along the lines of Lesterl you could use a handheld vacuum pump (I have a mity vac) if you have a hose that will fit. Though I don't think it would be a big deal to have the nut end up in a shop-vac...
