Can you post a photo of the longer center console? I am not familiar with them.

    Photos of 5700 Vortec needed

Thanks to @JungleRoosters photos which were key in find a "not hooked up" vacuum hose while attempting to pass smog. Hose found (from right bank to PCV on left bank), smog passed, truck back on road. Hey 'hoe, let's go!!

    P1345 Code Fixed

Quick follow-up ... the Tahoe DID pass smog (after one retest due to a vacuum line that I did not hook up). It is now back on the road after a 2 year absence and seems to be running well (and not leaking) (is there an emoji for "knock on wood"?).

    P1345 Code Fixed

I am rather hoping it is close enough to pass California smog test.

    P1345 Code Fixed

Greetings All, After replacing the lower intake manifold gasket on a 1996 Tahoe 5.7L, and re-installing the distributor, the car was throwing code P1345 (cam position and crank position don't agree). The car did run ok, more or less. The proper method to correct is to attach a scanner with cam...

@Jungle Rooster ... Much thanks. A larger version would be helpful. I will PM you with my email address unless you have a different way.

    Photos of 5700 Vortec needed

Photos would be much appreciated. Time is not crucial. If possible I would like to see the general "over/under" weaving pattern of the wiring. I need to recall the changes that we made when putting in a throttle body extender. Also of interest is the configuration of two wiring holders (left...

    Photos of 5700 Vortec needed

Greetings All ... I am putting back together the engine bay on a 1996 Tahoe, 5.7L Vortec after a Lower Intake Manifold gasket replacement. I did not take pictures before starting the project (in January, some things came up). It is May, and all is being put back together, but I don't remember...

Control Sales Items ... What are they?

Hello all. I am killing some time by going the RPO codes in the glove box of the 1996 Tahoe and have come across R8T ("CONTROL SALES ITEM NO. 69"). What might this be? What are control sales items? Cheers!

A few questions about my Tahoe...

I attached a scanner after the engine was warm. Live Data shows 189F with the gauge needle at 1 small line past the bold line (between 100 and 210). I imagine gauges can vary. IMHO it is irritating having a non linear gauge without additional annotation. Cheers!

    Upper Intake

Here is what I see ... the nut did not go directly into the intake through the poppet holes. I wish this question were last week when I had my plenum off. To substitute, let me ask ... when you vacuumed did you have all injector poppets in and the breather tubes and other plenum holes closed...

    Upper Intake

According to this site: http://www.off-roadweb.com/tech/1012or_csfi_to_mpfi_vortec_engine_fueling_fix/ The "The other issue is that the end of a poppet valve is positioned just above the intake valve to each cylinder." which leads me to believe that if the nut is not lodged in the poppet hole...

    Upper Intake

May I ask ... did the nut drop into the hole for the spider leg or into one of the breathers? Along the lines of Lesterl you could use a handheld vacuum pump (I have a mity vac) if you have a hose that will fit. Though I don't think it would be a big deal to have the nut end up in a shop-vac...

    Cold Start troubles

Greetings All! It has been several days with the new MFI and the Tahoe has started quickly every time asked. The truck is running very well, with better power, consistency and smoothness. It is an effortless and sneaky romp to 60 MPH. I am very pleased with the new MFI unit. I am the...
