About To Drop A Rebuit 5.7 Vortec In My '99 2-Door.. Any Suggestions/Tips/Etc?

Got to keep my mechanic in bling! Doing the work yourself save half the price but not all of us have the time or knowledge. Besides, I'd rather be fishing. You get what you pay for. You want a $1.98 engine.. Be my guest..!

About To Drop A Rebuit 5.7 Vortec In My '99 2-Door.. Any Suggestions/Tips/Etc?

The price looks about right. Your gas mileage will be a couple MPGs less with the newer tighter engine. I suspect once it loosens up some the mileage will go back up. It pulls my Grady White 24' Explorer with no problems at all. However, I would not suggest pulling it without good trailer...

About To Drop A Rebuit 5.7 Vortec In My '99 2-Door.. Any Suggestions/Tips/Etc?

Sorry to respond so late.. Just got back on. I replaced the engine in my 99 4dr Tahoe about 3 years ago. I purchased a new 5.7 with a 5 year / 100,000 warranty and have been very happy with it. The total price from my mechanic was $5,000. As far as I'm concerned it was well worth it. The total...

    Help Please

Sounds like the shift solenoid is dirty... A tranny place can do a "back flush" on the transmission... Some say that fixes the problem... I'm about to have it done on mine... Good Luck..

1999 Tahoe Misfire Had the same issue for over a year... The engine finally desintegrated and I put a new engine in at 130,000.... It still had a misfire... After taking it back to the mechanic 3 times and him doing nothing but replacing wires, plugs and rotor caps I decided to fix it myself...

    Stalling & Stumbling

Hey GMAN1001, After replacing the camshaft position sensor in the distributor that helped alot. However, I still had a small sputter and stumble. I pulled the distributor and the gears were a mess. I mean there were a couple that were actually shaved down to nothing. All gear edges were...

Hey gman1001, I've got a 99 "Hoe" duing the same thing. I replaced the camshaft position sensor (in the distributor) and that helped alot. However, it occasionally still does the same thing. My next step is to replace the distributor. It has 150,000 miles on it. If you find another fix for it...
