check the fuel pressure at idle and full throttle snap, really sound like the fuel pump

a tick tick tick noise is sometimes ok but a knock knock knock usually means something bad, use an automotive stethoscope, or a broom handle if you dont have one and place one end against the oil pan and the other end to your ear, thisll tell you if its a low end knock or not, if its pretty loud...

grease the splines in the slip yoke, but before reinstalling the drive shaft cut a piece of one inch hose down to about one inch in length and put that inside the slip yoke, this will usually take care of it if its the slip yoke, sometime just greasing it isnt enough, the hose seems to do the trick

next time it happens try to keep the brake pedal pressed and have someone check your tail lights, could be the brake swith giving you problems

when the engine is hot turn it off and leave the key on, use a test light and back probe the connector on the fans,use a test light with a tpin so you can probe the hot and the ground side with the test light, if the test light lights up youll have to repalce the fans, if it doesnt light up...

the fuel pumps in these things can be quite noisy at times, ive heard them make noise on brand new vehichcles and vehs with a million miles, change your filter on a regular basis 30-60k miles and youll most likely never have a problem with the pump

not really a problem with the tcase, they usually outlast the truck unless theyre abused. but the encoder motor on the tcase is a common issue, usually an easy fix, you can pick up the switch for the emotor for about $100, and can swap it out with a socket and a torx bit. if there is a problem...
