I finally got this figured out. It was caused by a faulty fuel pump. The one-way valve on the fuel pump was not working properly allowing gas to leak back into the tank. Luckily, I had the fuel pump replaced by the dealer once already and it had a lifetime warranty so they replaced it for free...
