No letter but I became aware of the recall here on the forum. Took my 07 Avalanche to the dealer today asking about it. They expect parts in November. So I had them pull the fuse. The Service Manager gave me the service procedure to remove fuse, on my 08 Tahoe:nonod:.

this problem can occur without activating the heated washer fluid option?

Yep. This was the cause of the fires in several Tahoes that was reported over the last year or so.

The fuse is #69 (60A) and is labeled WFHS. It's a PITA to remove. The clear plastic cover will probably come off but can be snapped back on when the fuse is replaced. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to wrestle the fuse out after removing the cover.
There's a handy cavity nearby that the fuse will fit in for storage 'til the fix is installed.
